Need help with installation of ubuntu 8.04?

I'm a new linux user meaning i have only navigated servers with linux and have never used it on my PC. With the advent of windows Vista and Windows 7 Microsoft has now become dead to me. Anyways, i have been waiting for about a half hour now and my installation is not complete the only prompt i have received so far is the initial install prompt. Since then the screen has gone black and come up with a background image and then repeated this process. My computer is not frozen because the HDD and Cd-rom lights are going. How long does an install take, i am running what some might consider outdated hardware 256 MB RAM and Intel celeron M processor (not sure of the speed) to be honest this computer is not my first choice but considering lack of money it will have to do. Anyway it might be important to note that i burned the iso to a dvd-r 16X disc. Is that why it might be taking so long? How long does it usally take?

So my before my boyfriend and i got together we were good friends. He would always tell me about his girlfriend at the time. He told me everything: how she always needed to know where he was, how she constantly called him and could never go 3 mins without calling him back. They had a very rocky relationship, didnt go so well. Anyways, when we went out they had been broken up for at least 3-4 months. Again he would always tell me about her, the crazy annoying things she did. We have now been dating for 8 months and she has called him at least a dozen or more times. Once while we were on our first date (which i brushed off and didnt strike me as odd now but it bothers me now), she has texted him countless times, and has even called me at one point all on other peoples phones and restricted lines which we have all ignored. ( when she called me it said restricted so i picked up. i knew it was her that called me from the voice, she asked me my name and i said it and she hung up). She still continuously calls and texts. My boyfriend tries to justify her actions i suppose by saying its not as much as before, but its still one to many. We ignore her everytime but she still manages to try to call or text. I have not let it get to me for 8 months till now. It all just seems too much. By boyfriend said we shouldnt let her get to our relationship and she really hasnt in my oppinion b/c we still love eachother very much and plan on a future together. He has also agreed to change his number. We have blocked her from facebook and everything and still she manages to get ahold of us. It bothers me to the point of crying and when it gets to me all my boyfriend can say is well it looks let we let her win. Thanks alot. Why does my horse have 4 swollen legs?

I put my horse in a new paddock with a horse that he is very wary of as he is above him in pecking order (trying to make him not so dependant on his current paddock mate.) After a few days I noticed that he seemed very lethargic. He was eating his hay with his eyes half closed. He got a nasty bite from the other horse, something that I found strange as he was usually very fast to get out of the way. Finally his legs swelled up. The back ones were worse. In fact the front ones weren't really showing any sign of swelling at first. He is nearly 9 yrs old. The paddocks that he lives in are about 4 acres in size. I see him moving throughout the paddocks and grazing as normal. He is still alert should something alarm him. I put him back in with his paddock buddy. He does not look as tired now however his legs have swollen up worse. One front leg is definitely swollen and the other I think is just a little as there is heat behind the fetlock joint. There is heat from the swelling. This is the 3rd day they have been swollen. He does drink a lot of water and go to the toilet frequently (he has for many years now). He did lose some weight this winter (I thought that it may be because he is more active due to stressing whenever I take his paddock buddy out). I am currently trying to get more weight on him. He did get the swollen leg problem some years back when in with his paddock buddy (no change of paddock) and no other symptoms (I had a vet out who had said that unless we start doing a lot of expensive tests it will be difficult to know what the cause of the swelling is). Prior to putting him out with the other horse I had noticed that he seemed to be a lot more chilled out around the paddock...not always running around when the other horse did. I thought that he was just finally maturing....could be related. Anyway if anyone has any info please help me out. I am waiting for the vet to get back, but she must be busy or on her day off. I was going to worm him, but have not yet to ensure that worms are not the cause of his weight loss. He is due to be wormed.

My son went through the same thing when he was 16. It is very hard for a mom to see her child suffer the pains of a broken heart. Your son probably is hesitant to talk to you about something so private to him. Is his dad involved? Maybe his dad can have a talk with him. Usually son's open up more to their mom's about this because they are afraid their dad will think they are whimpy to be sad over a girl. It took some time for my son to eventually open up to me about his hearbreak. Best thing to do is ask him if anything is the matter. Tell him you are available if he wants to talk about it. Then just let him alone. Once he does talk to you about it, just listen, do not judge him or be critical of his feelings. just valifdate how he feels, show him you understand, and reasure him that he will feel better one day.Try to make sure though that he does not isolate himself too much, and that he is staying healthy by eating regular meals. I can understand your concern, but most young men get through this just fine. Good luck to you both!

They seem to think that because most Mexican/Americans are proud of their ancient aztec heritiage that they somehow think that we feel some kind of affinity with north American Indians. I think that the native peoples of the United States have a proud and interesting culture, but they are not very similair to Mexicans, Guatamalans, or people from Honduras. We are usually of mixed ancestry and are more familiar and comfortable with Hispanic culture than native american culture. It is not that we want to be like the Spanish, but wether we like it or not their laws, customs, and language permeate our societies. Yes we are proud of our ancestry, and you will see the aztec warrior painted on the hoods of old chevy's and Impalas in southern California. Why would someone gain 20lbs on the Atkins diet instead of losing???

I know that everyones body reacts differently to everything, but why would someone GAIN twenty pounds. I made sure I followed the diet to a T and made sure I was in ketone or kenosis or whatever that is called every day. hello, im 19 yrs old and currently trying to enlist in Air Force pararescue. went to my local meps to enlist under pararescue the other day, at the end of the day they told me that my eye sight is around 20 200 in both eyes and that pararescue is out of the picture now. i really want to try out for pararescue, ive been training since i was 17 yrs old for it. they suggested that i join the air force, get prk surgery and then crosstrain to pj from there. i would like to know the fastest and smartest way to get a shot at pararescue? i heard that i would have to work at the enlisted job for around three years before i get a crosstrain to pj...? why so long i thought they need pj's. i can p the past test without any problems. would getting eye surgery before joining, then going into pararescue work? any info on best route to pj indoc would be much appreciated... thanks

You need to go see your doctor about your long periods. The doc can consider birth control to shorten your periods up. You can do anything you normally do when you have your period. You sound like you get depression for PMS and should really see your doc about all of this. It really isn't that bad if you just get out and do what you normally do.

Does anyone know what kind of rash this is?

I am an 18 year old male who has had a reocurring rash on my left hand only. I work at a fast food restaraunt and wear(wore) latex powdered gloves and I also work with bleach in a sanitizing liquid. I have this rash that consists of small red patches with bumps that are bundled together on only my left hand that goes from the back of my thumb to the end of my wrist. My co-workers said that someone that works at the restaraunt had the same kind of rash from the powdered latex gloves and working with the chlorine bleach sanitizing liquid. So I discontinued the use of the latex gloves and switched to non-powdered vinyl gloves and still work with the bleach. My rash went away for about a month but all of a sudden reappeared. No idea what this is. It only itches when it gets warm or hot, otherwise it doesn't bother me but is quite unsightly. Any ideas?

I know it is possible but by your dates that would mean you conceived about a week after your previous miscarriage? If you had done a pregnancy test so soon it could still show positive from your miscarriage. We used stone tiles, sanded grout mixed with an admix solution (latex based i believe).The admix is a sealant to protect against mold and mildew. Now the grout is adheared to the grooves and crevices in the tiles and we can't get it out. Know of any products to remove it?

Your team is solid across the board. Don't get cute and make trades for the sake of making trades like some are suggesting. Don't trade Schaub unless you get a WR1 or solid RB2 in return. He will continue to put up google numbers in that offense. Also, Romo's playoff schedule is atrocious (@PIT, NYG, BAL), so you may want to play Schaub (@GB, TEN, @OAK) one of those weeks. You have great balance at WR with plenty of match-up plays, but if you could package McGahee up with a WR, I might do that to upgrade at RB where you are middle of the road. I don't think McGahee stays healthy and McClain seems to have fallen out of favor judging by his # of carries (I also hear he's battling minor injuries as well). I would hold onto Fasano until I was sure Shockey was good to go. Drop Fasano if you have to make a move but only if there is somebody worth picking up like Avery, Torain, Ryan, etc. With the way Orton is playing, Lloyd will have WR2 value when healthy. As long as you have McGahee you obviously have to keep McClain, but if you unload McGahee in a trade I would dump McClain for a lottery ticket like P. Thomas, A. Stecker, L. as long as the pulley is still moving you should be ok. most likey the clutch on the compressor was burning up. just dont use the a/c like you said. BUT make sure the belt is still properly moving around the a/c compressor. if it is stuck you may smell something burnng and then it breaks. leaving you with no power steering and sometimes no coolant or coolant fan. which will cause you to overheat.

My Car has a Carburettor problem, please help?

It's a single point injection (SPi) rather than a carburettor. Yes it looks like one, it's more of an electronic carb to be honest. I reckon it has a blocked breather pipe where the rocker top breather hose joins. Make sure these are cleaned out before spending daft money on repairs. I seem to remember there was also an issue with wiring going to this unit having problems with a tight corner near the connector block. If there is a broken wire with intermittent contact inside, you will experience problems. There was a separate loom available to repair these, from Vauxhall. Might not be too expensive. Oh, and it's 1500 Rpm. 15000 Rpm would kill it!

Maybe it's the wording that's throwing me, but I have a predesigned database with supposed errors I have to fix. One of the errors says the fields First Name, Last Name, Street, and City appear in the proper order, but are sorted incorrectly. The wording on the next part throws me as it says the query results shold be sorted by last name within city in ascending order. Well, the Last Name and City fields are both already sorted in ascending order, but the wording of by last name within city confuses me. Another ignment or part of the same one throws me. It says when you try to run the query a message in the following picture appears, but it's a message asking for the parameter value of Amount which it seems it's supposed to do. It details how the two tables provided are joined to display the different fields, that the query calculates the total amount for each customer, and that the query should be sorted in alphabetical order by worker last name and customer last name, which led me to sort them in ascending order. It next says correct the error that is causing the message shown in the picture and sort the records properly. It doesn't seem to be an error message, but maybe it isn't needed. I wouldn't know how to get rid of it as I see no criteria listed that is causing it in the first place. I just am confused by the wording maybe. Pls let me know if you can help.

If I were to get 4gb of ddr2 800 ram, I would be able to utilize all 4gb in dual channel mode rather than just 2gb. It only costs $60 on Newegg and I was wondering if the performance increase will be worth the sixty dollars. Well I don't know your price range... but I definitely like the Jeep Commander, it's not huge but it's not small either, most have 4 wheel drive, plus they have HEMI's if you're into that... I'm not sure if you want a truck or not, if I'm correct, the ranger isn't very big compared to the F-150 and beyond, but the newer Ford F-150 are nice, my brother in law has a 2004, it looks really nice, and drives nice too, though it's really big, and might not be the most gas saving machine out there... The Toyota trucks are pretty decent, the engines are not gas guzzlers, should check those out if you want a smaller truck than what Chevy and Ford make... I really don't know, I just like looking at things I can't afford... just look around, buy a car magazine at the store, or buy Consumer Reports magazine, they have reviews of new cars available, they even make special booklets towards only vehicle reviews for every car model dating back from 2000 or the 90's, they're pretty helpful, and it could help you find what you want and need... oh you asked what i would recommend in a vehicle... yikes... ummm... safety features, brakes, 4x4 (I just like those), engine type, new modern features avaible that make the vehicle dependable... hmmmm....
