Evicted due to an email about bed bugs?

Hi, my neighbor in the unit next to me has been battling bed bugs for some time now. The landlord refused to take action immediately and despite her threats to call the City Health Department (in chicago they are required by law to hire a professional) they have refused to handle it correctly, therefore they bugs eventually found our unit next door. The landlords have continued to have their own maintenance come in weekly and spray Steri-Fab in our units. They obviously never read the MSDS sheets because they never open windows to ventilate. Well I wrote them a lengthy email today about their carlessness in our units (they broke a gl doll of mine, spray my daughters toys without notifying me, and I am prety certain they sprayed into my hamsters cage with the faulty spray nozzle they were using and he died) I mentioned all those things and more about about their unprofessionalism. I never cursed, made any threats, or made false claims. Well, I waited about 3 hours for a response and never recieved one. Then a few minutes before the office closed they handed us an eviction notice. I pay my rent on time in full. I do not cause problems of any kind. The only reason they have to evict me is because they didn't like my email pointing out their flaws. Is this even legal? What can I do to fight them on this? Of course I hate renting from these people, they are heartless, but I don't want to move into a new place and bring the bed bugs they have neglected to take seriously with me. Any help is very much appreciated.
